Many things have changed in China., especially transportation. The cities were full of bicycles in the past and now they are full of cars. The atmosphere has changed completely. There is pollutions and the annoying sounds of horns. But a new alternative if growing and the pedestrians that refuse cars are being tempted by the rise of a new artifact: Electric Bikes. During the last months the Chinese have bought more electric Bikes than cars. In fact almost 3 times more. The government has played an important role in encouraging people to use this vehicle that doesn’t use no gas and are very quiet and pleasant to ride. Thanks to this the country has become the world’s leader market for the eco-friendly Electric Bikes.
Everybody knows that scientist are trying to create an eco-friendly electric car. Well, China is well ahead of this. The atmosphere is already changing, the pollution going down and the noise is lowering too. Many cities in China already have special bicycle lanes so bike drivers can avoid the traffic during peak hours. In cities like Shanghai the have government have applied high taxes to gas scooters so customers go for Electric Bikes. The policies are working even though people are still buying scooters with powerful motors. The speed limit for both vehicles is 12 mph. It seems that is relatively simple to fabricate an electric bicycle so many manufacturers are opening factories to produce them and also small shops. In 2006, 2700 licensed were given to manufacturers. This companies are in constants research of the market and they say that there is market because some people cant afford to buy cars and motorcycles are too dangerous. So they turn into Electric Bikes.
The main users are usually migrant laborers who live on one side of the town and work in another, they travel with their drills and saws attached to their like racks. Other users are the police force who has blue a white Electric Bikes as part of their vehicles. Even KFC and Mc Donalds are providing delivery services using this vehicle. They attach a plastic case to the bike and the delivery vehicle is ready to service hungry customers. Many people say that they have turned into using Electric Bikes because they can’t stand the smell of gas coming from a scooter. The scooters are faster but the bikes are fats enough to accomplish daily tasks.
China is giving example to the rest of the world on alternatives to keep the planet safe and yet meeting the customers’ expectations. Many in the future other countries will follow the pad to much more ecofriendly transportation system which is what our planet needs.
